Make sure you have a wide assortment of Salmon flies before you hit the river
Having a good selection of flies is important if you plan to catch a salmon on a fly. There is a wide selection available here from streamers to nymphs, Dry flies to Jigs, do not get caught with out the right fly again.
Streamers Nymphs and egg patterns will work well on salmon that are nearing their spawning ground. Egg patterns in bright colors dipped in some type of scent would best in cloudy to muddy water. Lighter colored egg patterns streamers and nymphs work better in clear slow moving pools. Streamers of all colors will work well when fishing larger bodies of water in strong currents. These are just some ideas do not be afraid to try different types under different conditions, as salmon and steelhead can be quite finicky as to what they will or will not hit.
